Coconut tile are an all natural hand made mosaic crafted in exotic Indonesia. They are suitable for indoor applications and primarily used for wall tiles ( wall coverings- like wall paper), ceiling tiles, for furniture, feature walls. They are a very light and durable material and very easy to install via a professional or DIY.
The coconut mosaics come in boxes of six sheets or panels that are 16.5 X 16.5 inch
We advise you read the instructions and have your contractor read the instructions in advance of installation.
1. It is necessary to open the boxes for 24 hours before installation to let the tiles adapt to the temperature and humidity where they will be installed.
The only tools and equipment you will need will be a square, small electric saw and sander as seen in the photo.
The adhesive that we recommend is silicon sealant for use in glass, windows, ceramics etc. We recommend Dow Corning sealant but other materials like Gorilla Glue will work as well.
2. Clean up the walls and ceilings that you want the panels to be applied to insure proper adhesion.
3. Apply the glue on the back of the panel’s surface in 8 x 8 even grids.
4. Paste panel and confirm it is square and level on the wall and press it for 5 seconds to make sure the panel’s backside is flatten against the wall ( necessary to avoid any bulging. For the next panel, make sure that its position is well aligned with the previous ones. You may give a spacing gap of 3 mm between the tile for grout or if you don’t use grout, you leave gaps to 1-2 mm to insure that the material has the capacity to expand.
When done, use grout to fill up the spacing gaps (you can use sealant if you choose spacing gaps of 1-2 mm). And remove unnecessary overflows by damped clothes.
Towards the end of walls, if coconut panels are too big and need to be cut, tear along a glued joint, and then use a grinder to shorten further to the desired size.
Note: Our coconut tile panels are 100% natural, and the manufacturing process is made by hand. No two panels are identical. The variation from panel to panel is part of the natural charm of this unique mosaic and should not be considered a defect.
Panels are easy to maintain.
When necessary to wash, washing should be performed with damp cloth, or using a neutral detergent diluted with water.
The products should be stored in a horizontal position, stacked to a maximum of ten boxes.
Must be stored in dry environments, airy and preferably on pallet.
